One of my favourite ways to design a garden is by keeping everything within the same colour palette — it adds texture without losing that soft, harmonious look.

Here, we paired limewash toned Millboard decking with limestone look Londonstone porcelain paving and Cotswold stone walling for the dreamiest blend of cream and honey hues 🤍🍯🌿
And I love that the dining table fits the brief perfectly 🤍✨

Sharing a few more shots from yesterday’s driveway project. This little seating nook is tucked behind planting to create a private spot to soak up the sun (especially handy since the rear garden doesn’t get much of it!). And with a solid sub-base, the paved area can double as extra parking when needed — the best of both worlds 🌿✨

Front gardens shouldn’t be an afterthought or just a parking space. With the right planting, you can soften hard edges, add screening, and frame your entrance beautifully. Lighting also transforms the space — creating a warm welcome and boosting security.

In this project, we broke up a vast gravel area with planting, added lighting and a water feature for interest, and even tucked in a small, sunny, private spot to sit and enjoy the garden.

This is the ideal window to establish trees and hedging — planting during the dormant season gives roots time to settle in before bursting into life as the soil warms in spring. 🌸

For this garden, we included a stunning Cercis canadensis ‘Forest Pansy’ to bring deep purple tones and rich autumn colour, paired with Stipa gigantea for year-round movement and texture. 🌾

The whole planting scheme was designed for a long season of interest with a low-maintenance mix — perfect for busy clients who love relaxing and entertaining in their garden. ✨

It was such a treat to revisit this project, 16 months after completion, and see how beautifully it’s settling in. My client had just returned from holiday to be greeted by a garden full of late-summer colour and texture.

The parasol trees are filling out wonderfully and will soon link across the rows, creating a striking “green roof” over the dining space — the perfect natural canopy. 🌿

I love how these textures work together. I used different format limestone setts to highlight a pedestrian route through a driveway and to break up the gravel. Using bands of setts through gravel also helps reduce the movement and migration of the stones under tyres.

Love these granite setts that we reused in the new garden design scheme I created a few years ago. Still looking great, granite is such a lovely material to work with-hard wearing and so many colour options and finishes to choose from. I don't do a lot of personal posts but after the hardest 8 months of my life I wanted to mark the timepoint and thank my amazing husband. I genuinely don't know how I would have got through it without him. At the beginning of the year I couldn't imagine feeling well again or simply taking a happy photo like this.
It sounds dramatic and I won't post photos of what I've been through, as you didn't sign up for that! But Google "Topical Steroid Withdrawal(TSW)" if you're intrigued. I know there are much worse, terminal illnesses but I want to raise awareness, even if just within my small network, for this avoidable syndrome caused by medical treatment blindly prescribed by doctors and dermatologists.
I finally feel like I'm coming out the other side of this hell and have regained my life in the last month. I feel so lucky as many people endure this for years.
If you use steroid treatment for eczema, asthma or allergies; be that topical steroid creams, nasal sprays, inhalers please be cautious, use them sparingly and only for a short period of time. Though this can also happen to unfortunate people who use topical steroids for only a week, for an insect bite for example! Steroids are hidden in a lot of products too, I don't want to scare, but please be aware of what is in anything you put on your skin. Our skin is our biggest organ so what we apply can be absorbed and take effect systemically, affecting our whole body.
I have only ever had mild ezcema and had mostly grown out of it, but my symptoms started to behave differently 2 years ago. 8 months ago I decided I didn't want to use the ever more potent medication the doctors were offering, with their equally more scary side effects, being told for example "this can cause skin cancer, we aren't sure why yet, so use sparingly", raised alarm bells. The medication wasn't working anymore anyway, only providing relief while I used the creams/tablets and returning more prolifically/spreading whenever I stopped.

Allium seedheads 🫶
When I ask clients at their initial consultation, are there any plants you'd really like to include...almost all say "Alliums" (or, "those purple pompom flowers").
So much love for these Persian onions/Dutch garlic. These were looking lovely against the barn at our #stratforduponavon project.

Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation' is probably one of the most popular of all the alliums. They have a striking silhouette which makes them particularly well suited to gravel or prairie-style planting schemes, but they also look fab in pots or mixed borders.
Their densely packed umbels of deep violet, star-shaped flowers appear in early summer above strap-shaped grey-green leaves (which will have already started to die off by the time the blooms form). Therefore, they team up well then with things like herbaceous geraniums or ornamental grasses, which will help mask these leaves as they die off.

Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation' is probably one of the most popular of all the alliums. They have a striking silhouette which makes them particularly well suited to gravel or prairie-style planting schemes, but they also look fab in pots or mixed borders.
Their densely packed umbels of deep violet, star-shaped flowers appear in early summer above strap-shaped grey-green leaves (which will have already started to die off by the time the blooms form). Therefore, they team up well then with things like herbaceous geraniums or ornamental grasses, which will help mask these leaves as they die off.

I just love this time of year with the lush, fresh new growth. This bed in particular looks great even before the perovskia comes into flower. So much texture.
Notice the shadey half, so even in a small courtyard we can include so much variety in the planting to suit the gardens aspect. Here I've used shade loving ferns beside the wall, next to sun loving Perovskia and Salvias which enjoy the sunshine coming over the wall.
