This large country home in Hornton needed a garden with wow factor and Lucy's clients were after large entertaining spaces, new planting to existing beds and a bold entrance.
Lucy incorporated a knot garden which gives structure and guides visitors to the entrance, bringing a traditional feel to the match the old Hornton stone building. Lavender within the knot garden and the herb bed will fill the air with fragrance too, welcoming guests on warm evenings. The large travertine paved dining area includes a sunken fire pit complete with curved Hornton stone raised beds and built on seating. The firepit has a hardwood deck lid which sits flush with the paving, so when it's not in use the whole space can be used for something else, or a table could be moved over it.
Planting frames the entertaining space and leads you onto the remainder of the garden where Lucy redesigned the planting to two large beds to provide lots of colour and interest for a summer party later the same year.
