Coastal-Inspired Garden Design for a Bespoke Home
Location

Project type
Front Garden & Driveway Design
Lucy took inspiration from her clients’ beautiful bespoke home, which features a subtle coastal aesthetic and a rich variety of textures. The front garden design was carefully developed to reflect this theme, with planting and a boardwalk-style entrance that evokes the feeling of walking through coastal dunes. Grasses bring movement and atmosphere to the space, while a striking multi-stem Amelanchier tree provides year-round seasonal interest with blossom in spring, rich foliage in summer, and vibrant autumn colour.
To frame the property and enhance privacy, Lucy introduced a Hawthorn hedge along the front boundary and added Birch trees to provide soft screening and vertical structure. Boundary planting was also enriched on both sides to seamlessly tie the scheme together and anchor the house within its landscape.
Practicality was another key consideration. The design needed to accommodate multiple parking spaces and a large driveway, but Lucy balanced the hard landscaping with expansive planting beds. These generous areas of greenery soften the layout, ensuring the scheme feels cohesive and in proportion with the scale of the home.
As a finishing touch, a carefully placed sculpture enhances the sense of drama and adds to the overall wow factor, perfectly complementing the architecture and planting design.
This coastal-inspired garden design demonstrates how thoughtful design can blend functionality with beauty, creating a garden that enhances both the lifestyle of its owners and the unique character of their home.
