Cotswold Coach House Garden Design

This walled garden in the Cotswolds was designed with a simple yet elegant palette of greys, creams, and lilacs—reflecting the client’s request for a contemporary scheme with a relaxed Soho Farmhouse feel. Lucy collaborated with Design Storey Architects, who had created a striking new extension for the property, ensuring the garden seamlessly complemented the architecture.

The lawn was maximised to provide space for a young family to enjoy, while decorative planting was introduced along the boundary walls to soften the approach to the new front door and glazed entrance. High-quality porcelain tiles were laid both inside and out, creating a seamless transition when the doors are open on a summer’s day. Fine gravel was added for texture, bringing depth and character to the clean, understated scheme.

Carefully placed pleached trees frame the parking area, while crisp box hedging defines pathways. Layers of perennial planting add softness and seasonal colour, ensuring year-round interest. By using high-end materials throughout both the house renovation and the garden, the design not only enhances the property’s value but also creates an outdoor space that will age gracefully.
