Cool Courtyard Garden Design

Lucy transformed this once dull and unloved courtyard into a vibrant outdoor retreat for a young couple and their two-year-old son. Designed as an extension of the home, the space is now full of character, colour, and functionality.

Crisp white rendered raised beds, filled with plants chosen for texture and seasonal colour, frame the built-in hardwood daybed—creating a welcoming focal point for relaxation. A hardwood deck leading directly from the lounge blurs the boundary between indoors and outdoors, making both areas feel larger and more connected.

Even within a compact footprint, Lucy maximised the potential of the space by designing two distinct zones or “garden rooms,” adding depth and variety to the courtyard. A marble sphere water feature introduces movement and sound, enhancing the atmosphere while being completely safe for a young child to enjoy.

This modern courtyard design proves that even small gardens can feel spacious, stylish, and full of life when thoughtfully planned.
