Barn Conversion Garden Design with Pool and Hot Tub
Location
Stratford upon Avon
Project type
Garden Design
Lucy was commissioned to provide a barn conversion garden design; set within open countryside and enjoying stunning rural views. With the property’s exterior spaces little more than a blank canvas, the clients wanted a garden that not only complemented the architecture but also created inviting zones for entertaining, relaxation, and family life.
Directly off the barn, Lucy designed a new entertaining terrace using composite decking chosen to complement the timber of the building. This space is now framed with abundant, colourful planting, softening the structure and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
From here, steps lead up to a dedicated swimming pool and hot tub area. Lucy ensured that the garden retained its spectacular sunset views by carefully positioning planting and hard landscaping to enhance rather than block sightlines. The hot tub was sunk into a bespoke decked surround, making it both elegant and easy to access.
The pool terrace was finished with limestone-effect porcelain paving, chosen for its creamy tones that add warmth and texture to the space while tying the design back to the barn’s character. Year-round planting was layered throughout the scheme to bring seasonal interest, movement, and colour, ensuring the garden feels alive and dynamic in every season.
The result is a garden that balances structure with softness, and practicality with beauty. The clients are delighted with their outdoor retreat, which has been featured in several Home & Garden magazines. Having been so pleased with the transformation, they have since commissioned Lucy to design two further gardens for their other properties—with equally stunning results.
