Contemporary Family Garden Design in Stratford-upon-Avon
Project type
Garden Design
Location
Loxley Road
This Stratford-upon-Avon garden redesign blended existing character with contemporary style to create a multifunctional outdoor space for a young family. With mature planting already in place and a charming Breezehouse as a central feature, Lucy’s brief was to unify the garden and give it a fresh, modern twist.
The original terrace was small and felt cramped, so a generous new porcelain-paved terrace was added directly off the house. It now offers ample space for relaxed outdoor living, complete with lounge seating and a firetable for year-round enjoyment.
Large stepping stones set into the lawn create a stylish pathway to the Breezehouse and BBQ area. An architectural archway defines this secondary zone, while a new Yew hedge—designed to mature alongside existing layered planting—adds structure and privacy.
A bespoke outdoor kitchen with a slatted cedar backdrop adds both function and beauty, with timber that will naturally silver over time unless oiled. A sleek black Green Retreats garden studio was also integrated into the design as a home gym, adding further versatility to the space.
The planting scheme is low-maintenance yet full of interest, with carefully selected textures, structural elements, and vibrant pops of colour throughout the seasons. The result is a contemporary, cohesive garden that’s as practical as it is beautiful.
