John's Garden at Ashwood Nurseries.

I visited this garden for the second time this August, my first being back in July 2020, just after the first lockdown eased and I thought it was amazing! My second visit didn't disappoint.

Here are a few photos from my first visit... those from 2020 seem more vibrant, perhaps because of the clear day and blue skies but we also had such great weather that year which always helps!

Tropical views of the pond area and more images below to show the stunning plant combinations, textures and structure John creates.

From www.ashwoodnurseries.com;

'John’s Garden’ at Ashwood Nurseries is a wonderful three acre private garden created by nursery owner and Chelsea Gold medallist John Maisey VMH. Informal borders, island beds, woodland dells and a wildlife garden are set against the beautiful backdrop of the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal.
Regarded as one of the finest private gardens in the UK, there are magnificent collections of trees, shrubs, herbaceous perennials and conifers adding to the interest all year round with an abundance of rare plants as well as familiar favourites."

Layered planting is something we all strive for in garden design but you need space to achieve it. John's Garden displays this technique beautifully. He also displays lovely sculptures and artefacts to great effect.
